Philippine Airlines renews partnership with Singapore Tourism Board
The Philippine flag carrier brings a year-long campaign to boost travel to Singapore
Philippine Airlines (PAL) and the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) renewed their strategic partnership at a signing event on Tuesday, 20 August, in Manila.
Currently, the Philippine flag carrier flies to Singapore four times a week. Likewise, the STB pointed out that the Philippines is, at present, Singapore’s sixth largest market with almost 700,000 visitors per annum. This makes up 84 percent of the figure seen in 2019 prior to the pandemic.
As of the end of the first half of the year, Singapore has already welcomed nearly 390,000 Filipino travellers into the country.
A strong partnership
STB executive director for Southeast Asia Terrence Voon said of the working relationship: “PAL has been our partner for over 10 years now. The airline has a rich history, as it is the national carrier. It makes sense for us to partner with them.”
Voon added that the renewed partnership includes numerous promotions for both accommodations and experiences for those travelling to Singapore. At the same time, both parties aim to entice more repeat travelers and focus on off-season travel.
PAL president Stanley Ng said: “We look forward to working together to create more opportunities for more Filipinos to experience how Singapore continues to be a world-class leisure destination.”
Ng also pointed out how Singapore’s dynamic culture has inspired many Filipinos to travel over the years.
STB chief executive Melissa Ow echoed Ng’s sentiments, adding how PAL has been instrumental in reinforcing Singapore’s image as one of Asia’s most dynamic lifestyle destinations.
