Philippine Airlines launches new domestic route from Cebu
The Philippine flag-carrier announced a third weekly flight between Cebu and Eastern Samar
Philippine Airlines (PAL) announced the launch of a third weekly flight from Eastern Samar’s Borongan Airport to Cebu beginning Wednesday, 18th September.
The new schedule augments the airline’s current Monday and Friday flights.
The addition of the Wednesday schedule stems from an updated agreement signed by PAL president and CEO Stanley Ng and Borongan mayor Jose Ivan Dayan Agda last 12th September which aims to support the city’s economic and tourism growth.
Ng said of this new agreement: “Our commitment to reliable and accessible air travel aligns with the city’s mission of fostering development and bringing hope to Eastern Samar. By expanding our flights, we aim to connect communities and unlock further opportunities for the region.”
Commercial flights between Borongan and Cebu first took off in December 2022. Since then, the route has been vital for passengers traveling to and from Eastern Samar. Currently, over 19,000 passengers have flown the Borongan-Cebu route and cargo operations continue to flourish.
