Set along the shores of the La Jolla coastline, with views of the Pacific Ocean, the Pantai Inn – a Balinese-inspired hideaway – has opened in Southern California.
The Pantai Inn is located near San Diego Zoo, as well as the downtown galleries and restaurants and is steps away from the beach. Upon entering the Pantai grounds, guests will be greeted by lush gardens and statues reminiscent of Bali, Indonesia.
Each of the Iinn’s 30 suites and cottages features typically Balinese furnishings, with hand-carved wood and patterned fabrics, as well as rain showers and optional in-room spa services. All one-bedroom cottages feature oversized bathrooms with their own Jacuzzi tubs. The luxury hotel costs USD 383 per night.
Five luxury experiences to enjoy in San Diego
Here are some once-in-a-lifetime experiences that you can try in San Diego while staying at Pantai Inn.
Spend the night in the wild
Forget about Africa, camp overnight at the nearby San Diego Zoo Safari Park. Some animals are nocturnal or active at night, so camping after the park closes is the perfect time to watch some animals. Guests are treated to guided walks and campfire programming. Dinner and a hot breakfast are included.
Seaside sanctuary
The Lodge at Torrey Pines in La Jolla is home to the Spa at Torrey Pines. Here, guests can sample a menu of therapeutic treatments utilising marine and botanical-based products like the signature Coastal Sage Scrub that uses sage, a herb known for its purifying and detoxifying properties, in a Vichy shower. The Spa also offers Italian holistic and sensorial massages, body wraps, masks and skin treatments.
Hot air balloon ride over Del Mar
Del Mar also happens to be the best spot on the SoCal coast for a memorable hot-air balloon ride, complete with a champagne toast; catch a sunset over the Pacific from 1500ft up in the air with California Dreamin’.
Indulge in dining at Addison
The Fairmont Grand Del Mar resort’s signature eatery has earned its award-winning reputation and one of only two SoCal restaurants to achieve this coveted status. It is the pinnacle of contemporary French cuisine in a fine atmosphere (the dress code encourages, but does not require, men to wear jackets).
Chauffeured San Diego wine tour
Simply step outside your hotel and enter your very own chauffeured tour to three family-run wineries in the San Pasqual, Highland, or Ramona Valleys, within a half-hour of downtown San Diego. Sample around 18 different wine varieties and enjoy a fruit and cheese platter, as well as a behind-the-scenes glimpse into how the vintners work their magic. Cap things off with an early dinner overlooking a winery.
