Oyo reaches US, makes inroads in casino land

Oyo Hotels & Homes has acquired the Hooters Casino Hotel in Las Vegas, which the hospitality juggernaut plans to revamp and relaunch as its first US-based flagship property.

Located just off the Las Vegas Strip on Tropicana Avenue, the Hooters Casino Hotel will be reflagged as the Oyo Hotel & Casino, spanning 657 rooms across 19 floors and a 35,000-square-foot casino. Additional amenities will include two restaurants, four bars, a fitness centre and an outdoor pool.

Property renovations are expected to be completed by the end of this year. Management of hotel operations will be handled by Highgate, while Las Vegas-based Paragon Gaming will remain on board to oversee Oyo Hotel & Casino’s casino operations.

Abhinav Sinha, chief operating officer and partner of Oyo Hotels & Homes in USA said: “Las Vegas is an exciting city in which to invest as the market continues to evolve with projects such as the new Las Vegas Raiders NFL stadium and the USD 1 billion expansion of the Las Vegas Convention Centre.”

The Vegas foray comes as Oyo plans to invest USD 300 million in the US market, where the company currently has more than 112 hotels across 21 states.
