ibis, the midscale brand from AccorHotels, made its debut in Kuala Lumpur with the opening of ibis Hotel Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC) last August. Within the shadows of the iconic Petronas Twin Towers and a stone’s throw from the heart of KL City Centre, the affordable brand is standing up to bleisure in full swing.
Set to be the second biggest ibis in the world and the biggest in the Asia Pacific region, ibis KLCC has everything from an infinity pool overlooking the Petronas, “kampung style” Malay food and French patisserie along with the easy and simple comforts of an economy hotel brand. “We’ve also been certified as a 4-star hotel in comparison to the majority of the ibis around the world which usually is a 3-star,” added Nick Alec, director of marketing.

But Alec smartly replied when asked what he loves most about his job: “Being able to provide a space for people to come together really reminds me why I enjoy my line of work. I’m a strong believer of leading by example. When working in the hospitality industry, there would be times where it could get overwhelming especially during the peak seasons. I’m always ready to assist my team regardless of the scope of work when help is needed.”
