Odisha to draft new tourism policy by next year

With an objective to take tourism in the state to new heights, Odisha Tourism is mulling revamping its tourism policy. According to Vishal Kumar Dev, commissioner-secretary of tourism in Odisha government, the new tourism policy will be ready by next year and will have attractive incentives for tourism investors as well as agencies which will help to promote tourism.

Talking at the Odisha Tourism road show in Delhi organised by Odisha Tourism in collaboration with Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI), he said: “Plans are afoot to diversify the product offerings by introducing houseboats, camping sites, etc. in destinations like Chilika and Bhitarkanika. The idea is not to spread the resources too thin but to identify key circuits and do master planning for focused development of the destinations.”

Odisha Tourism has identified nine such circuits in the state for tourism development and request for proposal (RFP) for master planning of these circuits will be put out soon, he added.
