Northern Samar eyed as prime diving destination
Northern Samar boasts of expansive seas, coastal wonders, and rich marine biodiversity
The central Philippine province of Northern Samar sees itself as the world’s next prime diving destination.
According to Jhon Allen Berbon, head of Norther’s Samar’s economic development and investment promotion office, provincial authorities hope to establish a community of freedivers who will enhance the tourism experience by offering diving tours and knowledge on the area’s underwater treasures.
Berbon said: “The pristine waters and vibrant marine life in places such as Mapanas and Lavezares offer a great deal of water adventure, ideal for freediving enthusiasts.”
A biodiverse location
Located in the Eastern Visayas in the centre of the country, Northern Samar boasts of expansive seas, coastal wonders, and rich marine biodiversity.
Aside from promising coastline attractions that include rock formations, maritime forests, coves, and fine-sand beaches, divers will find an exciting world to explore underwater, as the waters surrounding Northern Samar teem with vibrant coral reefs and marine wildlife.
