New Years Resolution Advice from Fitness Experts- the 75 Hard and 75 Soft Challenge
A brand new survey from Forbes Health/OnePoll reveals 62% of respondents say they feel pressured to set a New Year’s resolution. However, the health and fitness experts Bulk.com have spotted two new attainable challenges trending worldwide- one more difficult and one a lot more achievable. Google searches for the “75 hard challenge” and the “75 soft challenge” have surged by an average 231% over the past seven days worldwide.
A spokesperson for Bulk.com says: “The 75 hard challenge and the 75 soft challenge were initially introduced in 2019 by entrepreneur Andy Frisella. “However, but with recent the help of TikTok, have seen a recent boost in interest. “Both obtainable and span across 75 days, both challenges consist of specific goals for the following; sticking to a diet/healthy eating, drinking water, reading, working out, cutting out/restricting alcohol.
“The hard challenge is more difficult and restrictive, whereas the soft challenge is a more flexible, beginner-friendly challenge “In previous years, research claims only one in 10 (11%) people will stick to their resolutions for less than a month. “However, with more long-term challenges arising, 2024 looks like the year for more sustainable self-improvement, as people are more determined to bounce back stronger. “Health seems to take centre stage for many, with the top three most common resolutions revolving around eating better, losing weight, and getting fit.”

75 Hard Challenge
- – Drink four litres of water per day- the importance of hydration promotes overall health
- – Complete two 45-minute workouts per day- and one of them should be outdoors (regardless of weather conditions)
- – Read 10 pages of non-fiction per day. This habit encourages continuous learning and personal development.
- – Follow a diet of our choice. Participants can choose a nutrition plan that aligns with their goals.
- – No cheat meals or alcohol: avoid any cheat meals such as highly processed fast food or sugary foods. Also avoid alcohol for the entire duration of the challenge.
- – Take a daily progress picture- this helps you to see visual representation of the physical changes that can occur over the course of the challenge.
75 Soft Challenge
- -Eat well and only consume alcohol during social occasions.
- -Workout for 45 minutes per day (with one day of active recovery each week)
- -Drink three litres of water each day.
- -Read 10 pages of any book each day.
A spokesperson for Bulk.com shares advice on how to complete each challenge: “Whilst completing every task for 75 days could seem daunting, combining elements together can simplifying the challenge, also known as habit stacking. “An example of habit stacking would be drinking water whilst reading, or taking a progress picture as soon as you wake up so that you don’t forget later in the day.
“For workouts, it is recommended you check the weather during the day to see when is best to complete your workout. If you are restricted to the times of day you can complete the task, ensure you have suitable clothing. “One of the best pieces of advice is if you can find someone else, whether it is a partner, family member or a friend, who is completing the same challenge.
“This way you can go through the journey together whilst motivating each other.”
