Italy, Greece, and Turkey are three of the most popular stops in the Mediterranean, and MSC Cruises has just released a new itinerary for the MSC Poesia that includes all three. The cruises, which will begin from September to November 2023, will allow passengers to depart from any one of many locations.
A new 11-night cruise on the MSC Poesia will take passengers to some of the Mediterranean’s most culturally significant destinations outside peak season. September through November have been chosen since they see fewer tourists.
Depending on the date of departure, passengers can choose from many different embarkation ports in Italy (Rome and Genoa), Turkey (Kusadasi and Istanbul), and Greece (Athens, Piraeus). Every departure visits the same ports, all the starting sites, plus Palermo, Sicily.
Excursions from Genoa take visitors to the Ligurian Riviera communities of Portofino, Camogli, and Santa Margherita, as well as other historical sites, churches, and major attractions like the Nicolosio Lomellino and Palazzo Bianco palaces.
Kusadasi is a port in Turkey where cruise passengers may visit the ancient city of Ephesus and relax on beaches overlooking the Aegean Sea. Travellers may see the remnants of Hadrian’s Temple and other ancient buildings on these tours. The Blue Mosque and Topkapi Palace, two of Istanbul’s most famous attractions, will be among the stops of the cruise ship passengers on shore excursions.
The Acropolis, a hilltop citadel that affords a breathtaking view of Athens, and other ancient Greek architecture and monuments are among the highlights of port calls to Athens, and the cruise line offers many guided sightseeing trips to these and other prominent locations.
Palermo is known for its grand palaces, old churches, and delicious cuisine. The village of Monreale and its cathedral are on the itinerary, as are the mediaeval palace Palazzo dei Normanni and the golden mosaics depicting biblical events.
The Colosseum, the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, and the Vatican are just some sights cruise passengers may see while in Rome.
After completing a string of 11-night itineraries, MSC Poesia will stay in the Mediterranean, but this time will provide 3- to 10-night cruises through the end of the year.
