Along the wide, palm-lined avenues of Marrakech’s new city lies a luxury hotel that celebrates the city’s past whilst embracing its future.
Mövenpick Hotel Mansour Eddahbi Marrakech is an expansive, low-rise resort that manages to combine the charm of a leisure resort with facilities suitable for the largest of groups and international events.
Completely renovated just three years ago, the hotel has been styled on the theme of King Ahmad al-Mansour, the famous Moroccan sultan who led the country during the Saadi Dynasty of the 16th and 17th centuries, and brought prosperity to the country.
This is most evident in the use of water throughout the hotel; King Mansur was instrumental in developing water engineering in Morocco. Mövenpick Hotel Mansour Eddahbi Marrakech pays homage to this, and to Morocco’s verdant oases, with rippling streams, reflective pool sand gentling tricking waterfalls that create a spa-like ambience through the hotel. In the main courtyard, a 25-metre-long, palm-lined infinity pool provides the perfect place to unwind and cool off in the North African sun.
The buildings that comprise the property – all of which are all named after the family members of King Mansour – contain a selection of spacious rooms and suites. These range from the entry-level 30m² classic rooms to the 72m² suites, the larger of which feature two bedrooms, large bathtubs and terraces or balconies. For the ultimate indulgence, the luxury penthouse covers 290m² of living space with two bedrooms, a terrace and a private infinity pool.
Diners are treated to an array of culinary options, including international, Italian (King Mansour was a regular traveller to Italy) and casual grill restaurants, plus a stylish bar, all of which have the option of outdoor seating. The Manso Bar & Lounge also features a rooftop area that overlooks the Red City, and, being a Swiss brand, the Mövenpick also serves a daily chocolate “happy hour”.
But while the hotel is an excellent resort-style option for leisure travellers, it is in the event space where it comes to the fore. This is because Mövenpick Hotel Mansour Eddahbi Marrakech is directly attached to the Palais de Congress – Morocco’s largest conference centre, and one of the biggest in Africa. Its collection of 28 function spaces, auditoria and ballrooms offer state-of-the-art technology including multiple translation booths, enabling this impressive marble venue to handle large-scale international events, including African leaders’ summits and the recent COP 22 global climate change conference.
The hotel also features a separate group check-in area with direct access to the Palais de Congress, and these extensive facilities, along with the hotel’s extensive inventory of 503 rooms, makes Mövenpick Hotel Mansour Eddahbi Marrakech the go-to venue for Morocco’s MICE market.
Mövenpick hotels the world over aim to combine Swiss hospitality with local flair and favour. With its oasis-like ambience, royal theme and status as Morocco’s foremost conference venue, Mövenpick Hotel Mansour Eddahbi Marrakech captures the spirit of Marrakech – both ancient and modern.
