MoU signed between UP Tourism and MakeMyTrip
The Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department has signed an MoU today with MakeMyTrip to promote tourism in the state. The MoU was signed in the presence of Principal Secretary, Department of Tourism and Culture, Uttar Pradesh – Mukesh Kumar Meshram, Special Secretary, Department of Tourism, Uttar Pradesh – Eesha Priya, Director, Department of Tourism, Uttar Pradesh – Prakhar Mishra, and MakeMyTrip representative Sameer Bajaj at Tourism Directorate, Uttar Pradesh.
The initiative aims to promote tourism and facilitate tourists in the state. Under the terms of the MoU, MakeMyTrip will work as a strategic partner with the government providing insights on consumer trends, tourist preferences and supply-side information, which will aid the department in future policy-making.

After the MoU was signed, Mukesh Kumar Meshram, Principal Secretary, Department of Tourism and Culture, Uttar Pradesh said that, “Uttar Pradesh has immense potential for tourism and MakeMyTrip will be a partner in realizing this potential. Travelers search for various information on the internet before and during their trips. Search engines reveal whether a tourist’s interest leans towards eco-tourism, adventure tourism, spiritual tourism, etc. MakeMyTrip will prove to be helpful in this regard.”
He further stated, “Tourists often explore nearby areas after reaching their destination and promote local products by purchasing them. MakeMyTrip will assist such tourists and create packages based on this information. He also mentioned that tourists like to travel during holidays and those looking for something new will be attracted to wellness tourism. The MoU signed between the Tourism Department and MakeMyTrip will be beneficial for tourists while it will also be helpful in formulating future policies in favour of tourists.”
Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh said, “UP is a treasure trove of diverse experiences. This partnership will prove to be a milestone. It will help us create effective plans for the future by considering travellers’ preferences. Leveraging MakeMyTrip’s platform and expertise, we are eager to welcome visitors.”
MakeMyTrip’s Co-founder and Group CEO, Rajesh Magow stated, “We are delighted to enter into this strategic partnership with UP Tourism. Uttar Pradesh holds a prominent place in India’s spiritual landscape. The state is home to numerous religious sites that attract devotees from around the world. Destinations like Varanasi, Ayodhya, Prayagraj, Mathura and Vrindavan have been significant attractions for tourists. Since the consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, the number of spiritual tourists in the state have also increased substantially.
