Morocco set to become latest hotspot for Brits as the MNTO announces more flight routes from UK
Morocco is the latest hotspot for British holidaymakers, according to TripAdvisor, as interest in the country, known as the Kingdom of Light, has increased by almost 80%, and the Moroccan National Tourism Office (MNTO) announces more flight routes from the UK. Travellers are also rating the destination higher than Spain, according to the world’s largest travel guidance platform.
From the bustling markets of Marrakech to the stunning beaches of Essaouira and Agadir, Morocco offers a unique and unforgettable experience that enchants more and more British travellers each year, achieving a recent 4.56 traveller rating on TripAdvisor and surpassing traditional top destinations such as Spain (4.30). The country also beats Spain for its accommodations, restaurants and attractions.
The additional flights include routes from Glasgow to Agadir with EasyJet and London-Essaouira and London-Ouarzazate with Ryanair, following a stellar recovery in tourism since the pandemic. Pre-pandemic tourism figures saw a recovery rate of 28% for the first quarter of 2023, with arrivals from the UK in January reaching 43.377 (versus 35,909 in 2019). According to TripAdvisor, online holiday searches to Morocco by UK tourists increased in winter 2022 and early January with YoY traffic in February increasing by almost 80%.

The country’s easy accessibility from the UK, coupled with its warm climate and affordable prices, make it one of the most attractive destinations for UK travellers. The most popular destinations for overnight stays this year also include bucket list cities like Marrakech, Agadir, Casablanca, Tangier, Fez, Rabat, Essaouira, and Ouarzazate.
