MITEC hosts over 11,000 global financial insurance execs in groundbreaking dual event
The event helped show off MITEC’s facilities and capabilities for large-scale gatherings
The Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) marked yet another milestone as it recently hosted a groundbreaking dual event: the 15th Worldwide Chinese Life Insurance Congress (WCLIC) and the International Dragon Awards’ (IDA) 2024 annual conference.
This landmark event brought together 11,000 financial insurance executives from across the globe, enabling MITEC to present its capabilities for handling such large-scale gatherings, as well as its state-of-the-art facilities.
MITEC head of marketing and sales Cemone Chua said of the mega-event: “We are beyond excited to have finally welcomed WCLIC to MITEC and incredibly honoured to be [their] venue of choice. After tirelessly pursuing this opportunity since 2019, our team is both elated and deeply honoured to have played host to such a significant event.”
Chua added that the convention’s success marks a major achievement for MITEC and reflects its unwavering dedication to providing a world-class venue for global business gatherings.
She went on to say: “We are excited to continue building on this success and to serve as a leading hub for future international events.”
MITEC general manager for business development Winnee Lim expressed pride in the way the team was able to stage the event to the highest possible standards.
Lim said: “Our team undertook a rigorous planning process, hosting countless internal and external meetings to ensure every detail was meticulously addressed. From logistics and operations, to food and beverage services, each element was carefully orchestrated to guarantee a seamless experience for the attendees.”
It takes a community
MITEC also incorporated a number of unique elements into the mega-event, essentially infusing it with a touch of Malaysian culture and local colour, all for a good cause.
To support local small- and medium-scale enterprises, MITEC collaborated with a number of organisations, including the KL Food Truck Association which catered the event, taking participants on a gastronomic tour of Malaysia.
Partnering with the MyCreative Ventures Group, on the other hand, enabled local artisans to sell handcrafted products to attendees, enabling them to take a part of their experience home.
By doing so, MITEC honoured its commitment to the business events sector, whilst aligning itself with Tourism Malaysia’s Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign.
