Mazatlán, the Mexican beach destination on the Pacific Coast, which was recognized by the World Travel Awards as the Leading Destination in Mexico and Central America, has established itself as an international destination for incentives, meetings, congresses and conventions. To rise to this task, the city boasts of modern infrastructure, well-established transportation routes to and from the airport, and a wide range of services and facilities offered by the local hotels and the state-of-the-art convention center, Mazatlán International Center, for large conferences. This destination has become a popular choice for business travelers and professionals, who are looking to combine a beach town experience with business meetings.
Mazatlán’s location also works in its favor as a MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions) destination. Its proximity and year-round flights to and from major airport hub cities in North America, such as Los Angeles, Phoenix, Houston, Dallas, Toronto, and Calgary, facilitates travel and trade with American and Canadian professionals. Additionally, Mazatlán is only a 1.5-hour flight from Mexico City. Mazatlán’s unique location in the entrance of the Sea of Cortez with superb speed highways to Arizona and Texas also favors trade and visitations for business purposes. The Colonial City on the Beach is also a port of call for major cruise lines.
“Travelers no longer fit just one profile. They are looking to travel for different purposes now, such as leisure, cultural, culinary, business, and our city is prepared to accommodate each of their needs and preferences”, said Estrella Palacios Domínguez, Secretary of Tourism for the State. ” We take immense pride in positioning our city as a distinguished destination in Mexico, not only for its stunning beaches and our rich culture, but also for the structural developments we have made to welcome the MICE business. Mazatlán’s various five-star resorts and the Mazatlán International Center are adaptable to cater any event or conference. This November we will be hosting the Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association Conference in Mazatlán, which will trigger more cruise ship arrivals as well as the interest of more meeting planners to consider Mazatlán for their upcoming events,” added Palacios Domínguez.
Located within the tourist zone, at Marina Mazatlán, the Mazatlán International Center stands out as one of the top three venues in the country. This venue has been nationally recognized for its functional and innovative architecture. The Center features a total of 18 rooms spread across three levels and can hold up to 5,000 attendees for the main ballroom. This venue is also suitable for exhibitions and conferences. Additionally, it offers a business center that accommodates up to 20 people, along with 10 hectares for open-air exhibitions and outdoor concerts of up to 10,000 people.
In addition to the Mazatlán International Center, the destination has dozens of venues with impressive historical and natural landscapes, pristine waters and clear skies as a backdrop conveniently located within the tourist zone or nearby. Another venue option is The Observatory 1873, which provides panoramic ocean and city views from atop a hill; and the Ángela Peralta Theater, a 140-year-old neoclassical architectural gem, which is used for important cultural and artistic events, such as the Mazatlán Cultural Festival and the Spring Season Festival.
In addition to its business-friendly infrastructure, Mazatlán offers a variety of appealing activities for participants to relax and discover the wonders of the destination during their downtime. The destination boasts of an engaging and stimulating beach town atmosphere that encourages networking, creativity, and innovation. Visitors can enjoy thrilling water sports, cultural excursions, and indulge in wonderful cuisine in Mazatlán.
