Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group has announced that it will manage a new hotel in Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, scheduled to open in 2020.
With new landmark developments such as the Kenton Node Hotel Complex that we mentioned recently, Ho Chi Minh City is becoming a commercial hub of the country’s fast-growing economy. And right at the centre of local and international art activities is Union Square Saigon, where Mandarin Oriental Saigon will be situated on the upper floors.
On its completion in 2020, the property will combine a mix of Vietnam’s historic vibe with contemporary facilities. The property will form part of Union Square Saigon, an upscale commercial building in the heart of the city that is currently under renovation.
“We are delighted to be opening a hotel in such a prime location in the city. We look forward to working with our partners to create a world-class experience and to bringing Mandarin Oriental’s renowned level of service excellence to Vietnam for the first time,” said James Riley, group chief executive of Mandarin Oriental.
Mandarin Oriental, Saigon will comprise 227 guestrooms and suites, six restaurants and bars, a range of meeting and banqueting spaces, a fitness centre, a Spa at Mandarin Oriental and an outdoor swimming pool.
“With its exceptional design, locale, history and culture, Union Square Saigon is destined to become a landmark destination. We are delighted to welcome Mandarin Oriental to this project, which will not only raise the level of luxury hospitality in the city but will also increase awareness of Vietnam internationally,” said Jonathan Au, general director of Union Square Saigon.
Set in a prime location, Mandarin Oriental, Saigon is adjacent to the Saigon Opera House and the People’s Committee Building and within walking distance of most of the key landmarks in the city.
Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group currently operates 31 hotels and eight residences in 21 countries and territories. Aside from the new property in Vietnam, the global hotel chain is also set to open a 26-suite hotel called Mandarin Oriental, Canouan in the Caribbean this summer.
