Malaysia Aviation Group to reduce operations till December 2024
The company released a statement following service disruptions on 19th August
Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), the parent firm of Malaysia Airlines, Firefly, and Amal, immediately took steps to address service disruptions reported on 19 August.
In a statement released to the press, MAG managing director Izham Ismail personally apologised for the spate of incidents which disrupted individual travel plans and caused inconvenience.
Ismail said: “[We] are taking immediate steps to address the root causes of these significant issues that contribute to operational difficulties including supply chain constraints, manpower challenges, and other external factors as part of the continuing normalisation of global aviation operations post-pandemic.”
He added that MAG remains affected by delays to the delivery of its new aircraft, resulting in less available aircraft for its operations this year.
As a result, MAG is temporarily reducing its network until December 2024 to apply corrective measures wherever necessary in order to ensure the long-term reliability of its fleet and the robustness of its operations.
Ismail assured the public that MAG is working closely with its aircraft and engine manufacturers, as well as a wide range of suppliers to comprehensively address supply chain and technical issues.
By doing so, the company hopes to enhance its ability to ensure that customers on Malaysia Airlines, Firefly and Amal services face minimal disruptions and have the best flight experience possible.
