Malaysia Airlines has unveiled a patriotic new livery that reflects the design of the Malaysian national flag.
The “Negaraku” livery forms part of a Malaysian government initiative aimed at “fostering unity among all and inspiring the spirit of patriotism”.
One of the airline’s Boeing 737-800 aircraft will initially display the design, before it is gradually rolled out to other aircraft including Malaysia Airlines’ new Airbus A350s and ATR turboprops operated by MASwings and Firefly. Initially, the Negaraku 737 will be deployed on international routes to Shanghai and Perth.
“The Negaraku livery embraces the spirit of nationalism, carrying with it the essence of the unique Malaysian values across the world,” said Md Nor Yusof, chairman of Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG). “It is also an important symbol of the good progress seen in the turnaround plan, as the national carrier rebuilds itself, whilst flying the flag across the skies as it works to become the pride of the nation again.”
The unveiling ceremony was attended by Malaysia’s Prime Minister Najib Razak.
