Lanson Place marks two milestones in sustainability

March proved to be a remarkable month for Lanson Place as it hit two sustainability milestones during the month. 

Lanson Place Causeway Bay, Hong Kong received the internationally recognised Green Key certification for its exemplary environmental practices.

The Green Key certification for Lanson Place Causeway Bay marks the first property to achieve this prestigious recognition, and is an important step in the brand-wide sustainability journey that reflects the group’s environmental ethos.  

An ongoing process

Even before Lanson Place Causeway Bay received its certification all Lanson Place properties have been actively implementing eco-friendly initiatives.

These measures include: 

  • A paperless experience with e-registration cards, e-invoices, and a digital library of magazines and newspapers in guest rooms. 
  • Sustainable housekeeping practices, such as eco-friendly products and an opt-in linen and towel change programme. 
  • Waste reduction and recycling programmes, including the use of the NORDAQ and Purezza water systems, the installation of in-room filtered water taps to minimise single-use plastics, recycling of coffee capsules and repurposing lightly-used soap bars through charity partners. 
  • Donation of textiles for both recycling as well as upcycling. 

Also, Lanson Place’s ongoing partnership with Green Hospitality, a not-for-profit collaborative platform, further amplifies its commitment to group-wide sustainability strategies. 

This collaboration has helped the brand identify key areas for improvement, including green procurement, energy-saving measures, and reducing single-use plastics. 

As sustainability remains a foundational commitment of the brand, Lanson Place continues to work toward measurable goals, from reducing energy consumption and landfill waste to fostering an eco-conscious culture among guests and employees. 

The Green Key certification of Lanson Place Causeway Bay serves as both a milestone and a blueprint for extending these practices across the portfolio.

An hour for a greener future

On 22nd March, Lanson Place properties worldwide also participated in Earth Hour 2025 reinforcing the brand’s commitment to sustainability. 

Between 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM, Lanson Place properties actively contributed to the movement by turning off non-essential lights and equipment, hosting interactive sustainability-themed events, and encouraging guests to participate in eco-friendly practices. 

From intimate candlelit gatherings to engaging discussions on sustainable living, guests and employees came together to reflect on the impact of conscious energy consumption.

According to design and technical services director Eugenia Lai: “Earth Hour is a powerful reminder of the collective impact that we can all make. Through our ongoing initiatives and our partnership with Green Hospitality, we are committed to embedding sustainable practices into every aspect of our operations.”
