Langham Hospitality Group has unveiled plans for the expansion of its new upper-upscale brand, Cordis Hotels & Resorts, across Asia Pacific.
Following Cordis’ global debut in Hong Kong in 2015, with the rebranding of the Langham Place Mongkok, the company is now planning to expand its regional footprint to mainland China and New Zealand.
The first new property to open will be Cordis Shanghai Hongqiao, which will welcome its first guests on 26 May 2017. Directly connected to the Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station and close to Hongqiao International Airport and the National Exhibition & Convention Centre, the new hotel will offer 396 rooms, extensive meeting space, four F&B outlets and a spa. The hotel is also linked to a shopping mall.
Then on 1 November 2017, Langham will relaunch its luxury hotel in Auckland under the Cordis brand. The 411-room Langham Auckland will undergo a refurbishment in line with its rebranding, with work expected to be completed in February 2018.
And Langham has also signed an agreement to manage a Cordis hotel in Hangzhou. This 200-room property will form part of a new mixed-use development in the eastern city’s Future Technology City area, which is home to the headquarters of e-commerce giant Alibaba. Scheduled to open in 2019, Cordis Hangzhou will also offer more than 1,500m² of event space, a spa and two restaurants.
“These three new additions to the Cordis Hotels & Resorts portfolio are exciting developments for the brand,” said Robert Warman, CEO of Langham Hospitality Group. “Asia Pacific is a great foundation for the group’s pipeline, and we are confident that the Cordis brand will increase its presence in the major cities around the world within the next five years.”
These three new properties could also be joined by a fourth Asian Cordis hotel in future, with a resort in the upmarket Nusa Dua area of Bali also in the pipeline.
