Langham Hospitality Group officially opened Cordis, Xuzhou, on August 31, 2023, marking their first collaboration with China Merchants Shekou Industrial Zone Holdings. Located in the northwest of Jiangsu Province, Xuzhou is the largest city of Jiangsu and is designated as a national famous historical and cultural city. The sixth Cordis in Greater China and the seventh opening for the Brand internationally, is nestled in the China Merchants Xuzhou Centre. It joins properties located in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, Ningbo, Hangzhou, and Auckland. It also represents the first venture for Langham Hospitality Group in Jiangsu Province, marking a continued strategic expansion into key Chinese cities and regions which enjoy strong economic and cultural offerings.
This pivotal development in the heart of the financial centre of Xuzhou’s New City District, offers breathtaking panoramic view over the stunning Dalong Lake and the vibrant, captivating Xuzhou Financial Centre.
“The Xincheng District in Xuzhou is a significant development that symbolises its importance, often referred to as the “double heart”. It serves as the administrative centre and emerging economic growth centre of the city. China Merchants Shekou, in collaboration with the Urban Industrial Group, has strategically invested in Xuzhou. Yunlong District, located in the Huaihai Economic Zone, is designated as the core functional area of the city, with a focus on high-quality development. Efforts have been dedicated to the construction of a financial services centre project. Today, Cordis, Xuzhou stands proudly in the heart of Yunlong New Town CBD, bringing new energy to the area and revitalising the city with a fresh perspective,” said Li Jie, Deputy General Manager at China Merchants Aden Hospitality.
“Cordis, Xuzhou will undoubtedly become a new landmark at the heart of Xuzhou City’s Huaihai Financial Service Centre. With a visionary approach, unwavering dedication, and a deep understanding of the local market, we are certain that Cordis, Xuzhou will set a new standard for excellence in hospitality. It offers our guests a unique experience which will bring to life the heart of the community, with its sense of place centred around local heritage,” said Mandy Fan, Senior Vice President of Development & Strategic Owner Relations of Langham Hospitality Group in China during the opening ceremony.
The narrative of Cordis, Xuzhou seamlessly blends artistry and elegance with a theme inspired by a renowned art concept known as the “Urban Ink-Wash Reception Hall”. Drawing inspiration from the rich cultural heritage of China, the design encompasses concepts such as “Dawning East”, “Ink Triumphs Colour”, “Charm of Ingenuity”, “Serene Contemplation” and “Tranquil Simplicity”, which set the tone for the heartfelt service of the hotel. Beyond the art, Cordis Xuzhou touches other senses. World-renowned perfumer Christophe Laudamiel has meticulously crafted a one-of-a-kind fragrance, infused with a fresh modern touch— the invigorating essence of sparkling mint.
The hotel features 269 modern guest rooms and suites, ranging from 38 to 220 square meters. Each has been thoughtfully designed to offer a sophisticated tranquil haven. Guests staying in-house can relax and enjoy the sweeping 360-degree vista of the picturesque Dalong Lake and the cityscape of Xuzhou.
Located on the 20th floor, the Club Lounge offers extra privileges for guests staying in the hotel’s executive rooms including snacks, light refreshments, cocktails and a space to relax with views over the lake. A world of gastronomic delights awaits at Cordis, Xuzhou. Located on the second floor, Ming Court, a sister to the renowned Michelin-starred restaurants in Shanghai and Hong Kong, promises every guest the highest quality Cantonese Cuisine. Meanwhile, Cordis Market offers a choice-filled dining experience in a carefully designed art-inspired space, that frames a showcase of international and local dining options.
On the Ground Floor, the Lobby Lounge offers a haven to unwind or conclude a successful business meeting over cocktails or afternoon tea.
With conference facilities spanning over 1,000 square meters with natural light and views over Dalong Lake, Cordis, Xuzhou is destined to be the preferred venue for the city’s most prestigious events and weddings. From the built-in LED wall and the dazzling chandeliers to the carefully designed elegant interiors, every element is created to be flexible and interactive, empowering event planners to tailor their own unique events.
The hotel’s wellness centre offers a sanctuary for guests to rejuvenate. The 25-meter indoor heated swimming pool, framed with floor-to-ceiling windows, invites swimmers to enjoy their laps in the naturally lit interior or guests can workout in the gym with breathtaking panoramic views of Dalong Lake.
