Laguna Phuket brings Chinese Golden Week festivities to Thailand

Laguna Phuket hosts a spectacular celebration characterised by rich traditions for Chinese Golden Week this October.

Scheduled for the 5th and 6th of the month, the integrated destination becomes a traditional wonderland thanks to stunning displays celebrating the diversity and beauty of Chinese traditions.

The festivities begin with Window of Phuket Penanakan’s Way of Life, a live performance from the Thai Peranakan Association. Their performance provides a glimpse into the beautiful blend of local and Chinese influences that helped shape Phuket’s cultural landscape. 

Guests can also enjoy the soulful melodies of a guzheng [traditional stringed instrument] recital, the energy of local school performances, and a heartwarming sing-a-long by Kai Toon, a young talent blending Chinese and Thai songs. 

The highlight of this event will be a stellar performance by Thassapak “Bie” Hsu, the celebrated Thai-Taiwanese singer and actor who gained fame through his lead role in My Girlfriend is an Alien. Hsu brings a compelling fusion of Thai and Chinese artistry to the stage, so his performance promises to be a vibrant celebration of his unique cultural background.

A learning experience

There will be numerous opportunities to immerse one’s self in Chinese traditions thanks to traditional Chinese music, authentic local and international street food, and cultural performances. 

Children, in particular, can join in the fun at the Kidz Zone to learn more about Chinese customs through interactive activities and crafts.

As night falls, visitors can enjoy a fusion of modern and traditional Chinese musical elements performed by the talented youth band OZONE. Their captivating melodies will add a contemporary twist to the festivities. 

Each evening will conclude with a spellbinding Lion Dance performance, symbolising prosperity and joy that is bound to create beautiful memories for the whole family.
