There are now more options for travel between Europe and Kazakhstan, following the signing of an agreement between Air Astana and Lufthansa.
Under the terms of the deal, which takes effect on 26 March 2017, the two airlines will codeshare on all of each other’s flights between Germany and Kazakhstan, including Air Astana’s flights between Astana and Frankfurt and Lufthansa’s services from Frankfurt to Almaty and Astana.
This means passengers can choose the flight best timed to meet their needs, including onward connectivity.
“Passengers flying from Almaty and Astana to Frankfurt can now enjoy a greater choice of flights to best suit their schedules and the convenience of simply using the ticket of either of the two airlines,” said Peter Foster, president & CEO of Air Astana (pictured right). “This is a winning step for both airlines and their passengers flying between Kazakhstan and Germany.”
As part of the arrangement, Air Astana will move into Terminal 1 at Frankfurt Airport to improve connectivity with Lufthansa.
