Japan’s Peach creates new fare types

Peach, the Japanese low-cost carrier, has unveiled three new fare types.

The airline’s former twin fare policy has now been scrapped and replaced with the trio of new fares, called “Simple Peach”, “Value Peach” and “Prime Peach”.

Simple Peach will be a basic non-refundable seat-only fare with no checked baggage, while Value Peach provides one piece of checked baggage, free seat selection and the ability to change the booking free-of-charge. Cancellation fees will still apply.

The top fare category, Prime Peach, provides passengers with two pieces of checked baggage and flight cancellation refunds in the form of Peach Points.

Passengers booking all three fare types will be offered up to 10kg of carry-on baggage.

“Some fly Peach for day trips abroad or trips decided at the spur of the moment while many others use Peach for visits to medical facilities, for nursing care, or for homecomings. To continue to respond flexibly to the varying styles of travel among customers, Peach is introducing a revamping to three new types of fares,” the Osaka-based airline said in a statement.

Peach is also dividing its seats into several categories, including “Smart Seats” at the front of the aircraft and in the emergency exit row, and “Pleasure Seats” which includes all seats in rows 6-11 and window seats in rows 14-30.
