Japan’s first outdoor Legoland theme park opened in Nagoya on Saturday.
The new Legoland Japan features Lego replicas of several Japanese landmarks, including Tokyo Station, Kyoto’s Kiyomizu Temple and Nagoya Castle. Other activities include go-karts, a rollercoaster and a “submarine” tour through a real fish tank.
The new park covers 9.3 hectares in the Kinjo Wharf area of the city.
“We want children from all over the world to come to Nagoya and make unforgettable memories,” Torben Jensen, president of Legoland Japan, said at the official opening ceremony.
In total, Legoland Japan has six zones: Bricktopia, Adventure, Knight’s Kingdom, Pirate Shores, Miniland and Lego City. There is also a Lego factory showing how the bricks are produced, plus retail and F&B outlets.
And Jensen told reporters that plans are already in place to expand the park in future, including the development of a Legoland hotel.
