IWTA speaks with Liz Ortiguera – CEO of PATA
Background
Liz is from a Philippine heritage and grew up in the states. Early in her career she wanted to be a scientist but quickly learnt she was more passionate about people than molecules.
She went to business school and about 23 years ago moved to Asia to work for American Express. This is where her path into the tourism industry started and she spent 10 years managing travel network of partners of Asia Pacific.
Summary:
Liz is the first female CEO of PATA and the 2nd Asian American female in PATA’s 70 year history. Her path before PATA has not been without it’s challenges and biases. Her career has included stints in a mix of industries like technology, financial services, pharmaceuticals and of course travel. She shares her thoughts and challenges on what the industry challenges we face after the pandemics and plans for recovery.
