As a world leader in accessibility legislation, infrastructure and services, the destination of Israel takes pride in ensuring everybody, no matter the impairment, can experience all that Israel has to offer. It is currently a legal requirement for all public spaces to have wheelchair access meaning Israel’s restaurants, urban beaches and historic sites can be enjoyed by all. In addition to this, Israel has developed a mobile app designed to improve the accessibility of the ancient city, Jerusalem, for the visually impaired. It operates using Bluetooth signal, and with 60 beacons set up around the city (with a further 140 planned) the visually impaired can safely navigate the historic alleyways of the wonderful city. Tel Aviv is also very wheelchair friendly, with easy access ramps dotted around the city’s streets and at the Hilton Beach wheelchair users will be able to make their way all the way down to the waterfront on a ramp that extends down from the promenade.
