Intrepid Travel is looking for 10 travellers with the courage to go on an ‘Uncharted Expedition’ – a 3,500-kilometre trip to the unknown.
Intrepid Travel is a global adventure travel company that has been taking travellers off the beaten track to discover the world’s most amazing places for almost 29 years. The company offers more than 1,500 trips in more than 120 countries and on every continent. Every trip is designed to experience local culture – to meet local people, try local food, take local transport and stay in local accommodation.
The latest 22-day adventure features some of the towns and villages that cannot be found in Google Maps, and is the largest and most daunting adventure the travel company has ever come up with. Their only clue is they will explore little-known parts of Central Asia with the departure point at Astana, Kazakhstan and ending the trip in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
“The world’s most remote and breathtaking landscapes”
Intrepid Travel co-founder Darrell Wade says this ‘mystery’ trip is not for the faint-hearted: “You won’t know where you’re going, what you’ll see, where you’ll stay or what you’ll be eating. There’ll be long travel days, intermittent electricity and WiFi, a few cold showers, and a few treats along the way though, including fermented mare milk.”
“But it’s going to be a real adventure. One day you could be hiking through the world’s most remote and breathtaking landscapes; the next, soothing your aching muscles in a sauna in the middle of nowhere,” he added
‘Uncharted Expedition’ will mark the company’s 30th anniversary. It is part of Intrepid’s Expeditions range, a style of trips that the adventure travel company still uses to discover new destinations and test new trip ideas.
It is also a way to test the waters whether the trip will be added to Intrepid’s 2020 Expeditions offering.
Is the expedition safe? While risks are definitely involved, the trip will be led by one of Intrepid’s most experienced local leaders, and has been secretly planned with the guidance and expert knowledge of its destination managers.
Registration is now open for Intrepid’s Uncharted Expedition at £3,750 (US$4,980) per person, excluding flights. Spaces are strictly limited to one departure only. For more information, or to apply for your place on the trip, visit: https://www.intrepidtravel.
