Capella Ubud Bali, a hidden sanctuary in the heart of Bali’s rainforest, will launch its Auriga Wellness signature treatments inspired by natural organic products and treatments drawing on the energies of the lunar cycle.
Setting the standards for the luxury retreat of a lifetime, Capella Ubud, Bali is a resort nestled between the rainforest, rice paddy fields and the sacred Wos River in the Balinese village of Keliki. The property was constructed without a single tree being cut, resulting in a wellness sanctuary seamlessly incorporated with its surroundings. It offers 22 individually styled one-bedroom tented retreats and one extravagant two-bedroom lodge.
Inspired by the island’s early European settlers from the 1800s, celebrated architect Bill Bensley conceptualised the tented camp as a tribute to their spirit of adventure.
Simon Dornan, general manager, described the property: “Our setting is fused within the tranquillity of the rainforest, reflecting the sanctuary of privacy and luxury that we will offer every guest. The same is created within our wellness and spa programme with specific techniques, products and scents for each moon phase.”
The Auriga Wellness programme is inspired by natural organic products and treatments drawing on the energies of the lunar cycle. And with Bali having the biggest Hindu population in Indonesia, the programme is based mainly on its traditions.
“The New Moon means a time for renewal and introspection, so for example, we offer a revitalizing seaweed and eucalyptus salt scrub, a seaweed wrap concluding with a full body massage of rosemary and eucalyptus oils. The Full Moon inspires traditional remedies said to boost health and vitality, puts the properties of the rose at the centre of treatments,” added Dornan.
The Auriga Wellness programme will offer an array of activities including aerial yoga workouts, personal training, TRX, Pilates, Barre-based classes, Balinese dance-inspired classes, rainforest and rice paddy trekking, jungle boot camps and community-based and cultural experiences including boreh – the tradition of using centuries-old healing recipes made of herbs and exotic spices as household remedies.
Dornan continued: “The guest experience commences before our guests leave home, with our personal assistants reaching out to obtain their preferences and desires for their upcoming stay with us.
“An experience at Capella Ubud, Bali will be close to nature, under canvas experience and an enriching journey for the mind, body and soul with our diverse wellness programming, that is complemented by a team of highly qualified therapists and wellness experts as well as the renowned refined and highly personalized service of Capella hotels.”
In addition, the resort also offers something for those who want to unplug from the tech-driven world. The ’24-Hours Confined to Quarters’ programme encourages guests to disconnect from their devices and reconnect with nature whilst being completely pampered from head to toe.
The ‘Confined to Quarters’ programme includes an Auriga moon treatment, yoga sessions, raw detox lunches and a camp roast dinner hosted by the chef with a camp ambassador tending to their every wish – now, that’s pampering for you. And to top it all off, the programme concludes with a signature bedtime ritual followed by a dose of jamu (a turmeric elixir) in the morning.
Other wellness experiences include the spiritual treatment of a water purification ritual where guests are blessed by a local priest in the ancient spring of The Beji, sound healing, chakra balancing and Tai Chi.
The Auriga Wellness programme will launch on 29 June 2018. Rates start from US$838 per retreat, per night.
