Archipelago International, the Indonesian hotel group, has unveiled plans to open at least 12 more hotels across the country in 2017, as part of a multi-brand expansion plan.
The company will launch new properties under five of its brands this year, ranging from the “select service” Favehotel and Hotel Neo concepts to the residential-style Harper Hotels, upscale Aston and luxury Alana brands.
The new openings will also stretch all across the Indonesian archipelago, from the Batam in the west to Papua in the east, adding almost 1,900 rooms to the country’s supply.
“Our team continues to do a phenomenal job at both launching hotels at record breaking pace and ensuring their success year after year,” said Tenaiya Brookfield, Archipelago’s vice president of sales & marketing. “The hotels opening domestically this year are both strategically located and much needed. They will create hundreds of job opportunities as well as best in class accommodations for both business and leisure travellers in the area.”
Specifically, the 12 new openings expected in 2017 will include the 75-room Favehotel Sorong Papua Barat in West Papua, 105-room Hotel Neo Gajah Mada in Pontianak, West Kalimantan, 102-room Hotel Neo Kebayoran in Jakarta, 164-room Favehotel Bandara in Tangerang, close to Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, 105-room Favehotel Tuban and 247-room Favehotel Madiun, both in East Java, 155-room Favehotel Tasikmalaya in West Java, and 131-room Harper Cikarang, on the outskirts of Jakarta.
At the higher end of the market, Archipelago will also open the 247-room Aston Batam Hotel & Residence in the Riau Islands, 123-room Aston Banyuwangi Hotel in East Java, 160-room Aston Inn Pandanaran in Semarang, Central Java, and the 271-room Alana Ah Poong Sentul City, West Java.
These new properties will supplement Archipelago’s existing portfolio of more than 125 properties across Southeast Asia, the vast majority of which are located in Indonesia. And the company is expected to grow even further in the coming years; in total, Archipelago has more than 100 properties in the pipeline across its seven brands.
