Indonesia’s Ministry of Tourism kicked off 2025 with a special welcome ceremony for foreign arrivals at the country’s three major entry points Bali, Jakarta, and the Riau Islands.

Held in coordination with each area’s local government authorities and state airport operator PT Angkasa Pura, these ceremonies were an auspicious way to greet the coming of 2025.
The Ministry of Tourism aims to achieve 16 million foreign tourist arrivals for 2025, on top of a projected 1.08 billion domestic trips.
Warm welcomes and promising statistics
In Bali, the ministry’s acting deputy of marketing Ni Made Ayu Marthini welcomed the foreign tourists arriving from Melbourne, Australia, via the national carrier Garuda Indonesia.
Flight GA719, arrived at Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport on Wednesday at 10:10am local time, carrying 251 passengers, most of whom were Australian citizens.
In a statement, Marthini cited the latest Statistics Indonesia report showing how the number of foreign tourist visits to Bali reached around 5.3 million between January and October 2024.
Of these arrivals in October 2024, the majority were from Australia, totaling 141,395 visitors; followed by India with 43,537; China, 33,645; France, 28,018; and the United Kingdom, 26,498.
Marthini explained that the proportion of international tourists visiting Bali from Australia during that period rose to 25.25 percent, up from 12.45 percent in the same period the previous year.
