Alongside the launch of its Europe Summer 2018/19 programme, Contiki has introduced a new travel style: Independent Insider.
The itineraries aim to reimagin group travel and allow travellers to pick their start and end cities and customise a trip that suits them best.
The trips range from 3-12 nights, with no structured itineraries and multiple start and end destinations.
Each Independent Insider journey offers the choice of four cities, with three nights in each city, so customers can choose how many cities they want to visit, along with their start and end point.
They will visit destinations such as Copenhagen, Porto, Budapest, Mykonos, and the Amalfi Coast.
As an example, the Independent Insider – Berlin to Stockholm – travellers can choose to visit only Berlin, or to stop off in Copenhagen and Oslo en route to Stockholm for the full 12 night trip. If they have been to Berlin before, they can choose to start in Copenhagen or Oslo.
“Our research tells us there’s a segment of consumers who want a more flexible way of travelling, but still crave the social experiences afforded by group travel,” says Donna Jeavons, Contiki sales & marketing director UK & Europe.
“Independent Insider speaks directly to this traveller, and we’re happy to continue to innovate with our trips to speak to our ever changing market.”
Developed with the millennial traveller in mind, every destination on the journey includes a unique local experience – such as food tours in Berlin or a street art tour of Barcelona.
Each trip will offer multiple Free-Time Add Ons such as a Vespa tour in Rome, a Patisserie Tour in Paris and a Cocktail Mixology class in Amsterdam. In addition, all Independent Insider trips will include a local food experience with partner visit.
Travellers can opt to add two trips together, covering more of Europe’s cities in one longer journey. U by Uniworld river cruising product is also available to bookend Contiki’s new Independent Insider trips.
