InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has announced a signing agreement with Soraya Development Company Limited (SDCL) to develop a luxury resort in Phang Nga Bay – the InterContinental Yao Yai Resort – set to open in 2020.
Known for its limestone formations, mangrove forests and quiet beaches, Phang Nga Bay is one of Thailand’s tourist hotspots. The InterContinental Yao Yai Resort will rise on on the bay’s largest island to become IHG’s 25th hotel across five brands in the country.
The 170-key resort will be situated about half an hour from Phuket and Krabi airport, as well as the Phuket and Krabi private piers. With its strategic location, guests can look forward to convenient arrivals and departures, complemented by views of Bird-Nest Island and Phang Nga Island, located 700 metres from the private resort’s beach.
InterContinental Yao Yai Resort will have four room categories consisting of: 72-square-metre ocean view rooms with a panoramic view suite on the top floor complete with a plunge pool; family-friendly suites featuring water slides, pool access and the signature Planet Trekkers’ Programme which allows families to explore together; tropical villas which are one-bedroom units on the lagoon and creeks; and the beachfront pool villas that boast unblocked ocean views across the whole kilometre-long beach.

Along with three restaurants and bar outlets, a gym, pool, spa and resort centre, the hotel feature the Water Facilities Centre, high-end transfer to and from the hotel, as well as meeting facilities and wedding arrangements. Special occasions can also be arranged at the private sandbank during low tide periods.
