Indian Hotels Company (IHCL), India’s largest hospitality company, in line with Paathya, a framework to drive its sustainability and social impact measures, is well poised to attain its goal to train 1,00,000 youth by 2030 in the hospitality industry. IHCL partners and operates 32 skill centers across 15 states and 25 cities in India.
Speaking on the occasion, Gaurav Pokhariyal, Executive Vice President – Human Resource, IHCL, said, “Guided by our founder Jamsetji Tata’s vison, IHCL endeavours to drive policies and programs that continue to build the bridges needed for a more humane and inclusive society. We are dedicated to addressing challenges to bridge the gap with the aim to create employability for the deserving and marginalised. The capability-building will allow for a much larger indirect impact through these partnerships, especially focused on socially and economically backward communities and tribal groups.”
Partnering with state governments, institutions and private players, IHCL creates interventions embedded with business strengths, to enhance employability of less privileged youth. The knowledge partnership by IHCL include training content, inputs on classroom designs, faculty development, on-the job training, joint certification and allied support through our Industry networks.
Towards skilling the underprivileged youth to absorb them in the rapidly growing hospitality industry, IHCL partners at skill centres across length and breadth of India and has already successfully placed 75% of the 10,000 skilled youth. These include locations like Chamoli in Uttarakhand, Chhindwara in Madhya Pradesh, Debari in Rajasthan, Ponda in Goa, Airoli in Maharashtra, Kukatpally in Andhra Pradesh and Ekta Nagar in Gujarat among others.
Regarded as the custodian of Indian hospitality, IHCL continues to invest in building industry-relevant talent pools with an aim to develop and support deserving youth and their families, while contributing to the overall growth of the industry.
