Venice has topped the UK Hotels.com list of rising destinations in a new league table published today. There was a 655% increase in searches for the Italian city in June 2010 compared to June 2009 on the website, followed by a 600% growth in searches for Nusa Dua in Indonesia. Staycations are also still popular as Cromer, Llandudno, Stoke-on-Trent and Stirling featured in the top ten and half the top 20 were UK destinations. “It is interesting to see Venice come in at the top,” said Hotels.com Communications Director Alison Couper. “As for the UK top riser, with more of us now taking our holidays at home, it is not surprising to see traditional British seaside spots grow in popularity, as well reaching the top five.” Other growth in searches included Disneyland Paris (415%), Playa de Las Americas (405%), Agadir, Morocco (380%) and San Francisco (375%).
