As the clocks go forward and we head into Spring, the Lakeside Suites at Storrs Hall, with arguably the best setting in the Lake District, provide a perfect place for enjoying the longer days and lighter nights. Self-contained, for grown-ups only and vast in size, each suite stands just metres from the shores of Windermere – England’s largest lake – and has its own private terrace with Japanese-style cedar wood hot tub overlooking either the water or the surrounding woodland.
Inside, sliding glass walls open the interior to the private terrace, bringing the outside in and ensuring guests can enjoy the view wherever they are in the suite. Interior design is inspired by the surrounding landscape with tranquil colour palettes and natural fabrics echoing Cumbrian slate, water, wool and wood and everything is generously sized – from the enormous beds to the huge freestanding baths and walk in showers.
To make the most of the awakening Spring landscapes guests can wander down to the shore, enjoy some of the best walking and cycling routes in the Lake District right from the door, take a skippered cruise in the hotel’s beautiful Freebody Slipper launch or have a bite to eat by the lake from Storrs Hall’s vintage daffodil yellow food truck. Guests are welcome to bring their own paddleboards, canoes and kayaks or the hotel can arrange them, along with a host of activities on and around the water.
Hot tub cocktails, breakfast hampers and room service dinners can all be brought to the suite, or there’s the Lake Edge Restaurant for elegant meals with a view and the cosy Tower Bar for relaxed comfort food.
A night in a Lakeside Suite from March costs from £547.50 (approx. USD 658.08) including in room goodies (complimentary beer, wine, soft drinks and sweet treats) and breakfast.
