On this week’s hot hotels round-up — we’re mixing it up with newly-launched properties in Kyoto, Venice, Bangkok and Zhanjiang.
MGallery Kyoto Yura Hotel
MGallery Kyoto Yura Hotel has debuted in the country’s ancient capital, with interiors blending elements reminiscent of the legendary Samurai era.
The hotel pays homage to the traditions of Kyoto through art and heritage – a key consideration for all MGallery Hotels. Boasting 144 rooms with contemporary classical design, local fabric Nishijin-ori can be found in each of its guest rooms celebrating a weaving heritage dating back over 1,200 years, while the seating area is furnished with traditional tatami mats.
Located within walking distance of the hotel are Kyoto’s most scenic spots that include the famed geisha district of Gion, Yasaka Shinto Shrine and downtown district of Kawaramachi.
“The heart and soul of traditional Japan”
“The opening of Kyoto Yura Hotel MGallery strengthens our luxury footprint in Japan following the successful launch of Pullman Tokyo Tamachi last year.
“Home to 17 stunning UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Kyoto is considered the heart and soul of traditional Japan. Famed for its great temples, beautiful gardens and intricate works of art, the place offers the touch of a modern city as well as the historical treasure,” said Patrick Basset, COO at Accor for Upper Southeast & Northeast Asia and the Maldives.
Hotel Indigo Venice – Sant’Elena
IHG has announced the opening of Hotel Indigo Venice – Sant’Elena, marking the brand’s debut in Venice, Italy.
From palaces to piazzas, gondolas to gelato and canals to carnevale – this city of 55,000 residents draws almost 30 million annual visitors, and yet despite its immense popularity, there are still pockets of the city yet to be discovered such as the Sant’Elena neighbourhood. Sant’Elena is a hub for modern art and culture, close to the home of the Venice International Film Festival and the Murano Glass Factory.
Once a 1930’s monastery, the 75 room Hotel Indigo Venice – Sant’Elena is a sanctuary reflective of its former heritage.
Dusit Suites Hotel Ratchadamri, Bangkok
Thailand’s Dusit International has opened the Dusit Suites Hotel Ratchadamri, Bangkok — its first all-suite property in the city’s vibrant district for business and leisure.
Located in the Baan Rajprasong building on a peaceful, leafy avenue opposite the green expanse of the Royal Bangkok Sports Club, only 100 metres from Ratchadamri BTS station, the rebranded property puts guests within walking distance of malls, restaurants and nightlife. Additionally, Bangkok’s central business district is only one station away on the Skytrain.
Comprising 97 expansive one- and two-bedroom suites, the hotel features contemporary Thai decor, an array of modern amenities, and two private balconies offering views of the sprawling cityscape or lush fairways.
