Hot hotel openings: IHG and Accor launch in the Maldives and more

On this week’s round-up of hot hotel openings, IHG and Accor go head-to-head with new resorts in the Maldives, LEGOLAND announces its Pirate Island Hotel and more.
InterContinental Maldives Maamunagau Resort
IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) has opened InterContinental Maldives Maamunagau Resort (InterContinental Maldives), the latest in a series of new luxury resort openings which includes ANA InterContinental Beppu in Japan and InterContinental Hayman Island in Australia.
Known for occupying the very best locations around the world, InterContinental Hotels & Resorts’ first property in the region is situated on the southernmost tip of the Raa Atoll near Baa Atoll, a UNESCO biosphere reserve, and one of the most secluded locations in the Maldives.

LEGOLAND Pirate Island Hotel
LEGOLAND Pirate Island Hotel, the first LEGO Pirate hotel in North America, has announced its anticipated opening on 17 April 2020.
The newest on-site accommodation at LEGOLAND Florida Resort will invite brick fans to vacation like a pirate just steps from the entrance to the theme park built for kids.
LEGOLAND Pirate Island Hotel will be the resort’s third accommodation and will feature 150 fun-filled rooms (including four suites), a heated pool with pool deck (complete with LEGO soft bricks to build in the pool), hundreds of LEGO models, in-room LEGO treasure hunts and exclusive character experiences.
Radisson RED Johannesburg Rosebank
Radisson Hotel Group has announced the signing of its second Radisson RED in South Africa – continuing the brand’s fast-growing African and global expansion.
Scheduled to open early 2021, the Radisson RED Johannesburg Rosebank will arrive in Africa’s second-largest city. The hotel brings the group’s African portfolio to almost 100 hotels in operation and under development.
Rosebank is one of the fastest-growing business precincts in Johannesburg, offering an ideal opportunity for expansion. The new Radisson RED hotel will be located in Oxford Park, a mixed-use precinct comprising premium offices, apartments and supporting retail and restaurants, all situated within a high-quality, privately managed and walkable public environment.
Pullman Maldives Maamutaa Resort
Set amidst 18 hectares of lush tropical flora and fauna on the Gaafu Alifu Atoll, Pullman Maldives Maamutaa Resort has opened its doors.
The all-inclusive resort from Accor boasts 122 decadent villas, including two exclusive Aqua Villas featuring bedrooms submerged beneath the turquoise waters for a truly memorable experience of the region’s marine life up close.
