Hong’s Chinese Restaurant & Sky Bar at InterContinental Chiang Mai The Mae Ping to open on March 29, 2024
Adding to its collection of standout dining experiences, InterContinental Chiang Mai The Mae Ping has announced the upcoming opening of Chiang Mai’s first upscale Chinese restaurant, Hong’s Chinese Restaurant & Sky Bar on March 29, 2024.
Led by Chef Chong Li, Hong’s Chinese Restaurant & Sky Bar pairs an elevated menu spotlighting tongue-tingling flavours of Sichuan cuisine, sophisticated seasonality of Cantonese dishes, and the finely balanced cuisine of Taiwan with an elegant décor that pays homage to the historic Lanna-Chinese trade links by embracing lucky colours and symbolism.
From their vantage point on level 16, guests can take in panoramic views of Doi Suthep mountain and the city as they sample a parade of chef’s signature à la carte dishes, including mapo tofu lobster; sweet and sour squirrel fish with pine nuts; crispy tiger prawns with wasabi; wagyu beef short ribs coated in rich Sichuan-style sauce; and other regional delights.
In addition to offering an extensive à la carte selection that spans grilled meats, wok-fried seafood, dim sum, noodles and rice dishes, Hong’s is introducing local and visiting gourmets to a premium Chinese sharing table experience, perfect for family gatherings and corporate functions alike.
The upper-level Sky Bar showcases the brand’s mixology expertise in playful craft cocktails that celebrate local produce, culture and heritage. A concise menu of small bites pairs well with innovative drinks, offering such options as deep-fried taro with free-range duck; crispy tacos with fried mushrooms and wagyu beef; crab meat cone with Sichuan micro herbs; and other savoury bites.
“Chinese cuisine is all about balance and contrast, and when done right, the flavours work together on a level you simply can’t find anywhere else. In China we call it kougan, or mouth-feel,” said Chef Chong Li. “This intricate dance of spices and textures is the experience guests can expect when dining with us at Hong’s: dishes that embrace experimentation and innovation, yet always respect the roots and heritage of Chinese cuisine.”
Hong’s Chinese Restaurant & Sky Bar, which seats up to 168 guests across two levels, will be open daily for dinner.
