Hong Kong Tourism Board comes away with grand title at this year’s PATA Gold Awards
The "Hello Hong Kong" campaign gained recognition for the role it played in Hong Kong's post-COVID recovery
The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) came away as the Grand Title Winner at this year’s Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Gold Awards.
The HKTB’s “Hello Hong Kong” recovery campaign took home the grand prize for Marketing, as well as two other awards: Best National Marketing Campaign in Asia and Best Printed Campaign.
Likewise, judges hailed Intrepid DMC Nepal’s “More Intrepid Women for Nepal” campaign as the Grand Title Winner in the Sustainability and Social Responsibility category.
PATA celebrated the winners from 20 categories at the PATA Travel Mart 2024 held at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Bangkok, Thailand on 28th August. Each winning entry was likewise featured in the 2024 PATA Gold Awards booklet distributed during the event.
This year’s winners across two broad categories, specifically Marketing, and Sustainability and Social Responsibility, were selected from over 100 entries submitted by 47 travel and tourism firms and experts.
Active engagement and nurturing potential
HKTB’s campaign took home the win as judges appreciated how it sought to engage all areas of Hong Kong society in the act of post-COVID recovery. Likewise, the campaign drew visitors in with rich imagery that captured Hong Kong’s natural attractions, gastronomic delights, and rich traditions.
Thanks to the campaign, Hong Kong successfully drew in around 68 percent of pre-pandemic tourist numbers. This, in turn, boosted hotel occupancy as well as per capita spending, contributing significantly to the city’s economic recovery.
Likewise, Intrepid DMC Nepal’s campaign won in its category as it fosters a workplace culture which does not just welcome women, but also nurtures their potential through the recognition of their opinions and contributions in their organisations.
This push towards more active participation of women in the workplace helped boost the number of hospitality firms led by women in Nepal over the past year.
