Hong Kong Sake Festival returns for 2024 run
This event gives rice spirit aficionados a unique opportunity to sample more than 500 types of sake and shochu from Japan
The Mira Hong Kong and Federation of Japanese Sake Industry of Hong Kong (FJSIHK) are teaming up once again for this year’s Hong Kong Sake Festival.
Touted as bigger, better, and longer than last year’s festival, the event gives rice spirit aficionados a unique opportunity to sample more than 500 types of sake and shochu representing more than 150 breweries from 43 prefectures submitted to this year’s Oriental Sake Awards (OSA), one of Asia’s biggest sake-tasting competitions.
Open to the public, the event is slated for 14 to 16 August at The Mira’s Penthouse Ballroom, following the judging days of the OSA.
Participants will have the opportunity to discover new and limited-edition labels of sake and shochu themed under 3 different regions: Central, East, and West of Japan; participate in dedicated 101 Workshops for beginners, as well as themed Sake Master Classes for sake enthusiasts conducted by the representatives of different sake associations.
Alexander Wassermann, head of hotels and serviced apartments for The Mira’s parent company The Miramar Group, said: “This year’s event promises to be an extraordinary affair, surpassing all expectations and delivering an unparalleled experience for sake connoisseurs. Moreover, we are thrilled to introduce an array of captivating workshops meticulously designed to cater to both beginners and seasoned enthusiasts, providing a comprehensive and immersive journey into the world of Japanese liquor.”
