In April this year, the Gold Coast will host the third annual Asia-Pacific accessible and inclusive tourism conference (aitcap 2023) to coincide with Queensland’s Year of Accessible Tourism.
More than two hundred people working in the tourist business are expected to attend the conference in Gold Coast.
This conference is bringing together tourism industry leaders to discuss ways better to serve the increasingly accessible and inclusive tourism sector.
There will be a full-day in-person conference on 28 April, a similar online conference on 11 May, and various associated events.
Gold Coast City Mayor Tom Tate said, “Hosting this conference will give us great insight into changing trends–and opportunities–globally.”
“I welcome delegates and officials to Australia’s favourite playground and trust you find your time here both stimulating and rewarding.”
The Accessible & Inclusive Tourism Conference, which has been held for the last two years in a purely online format, will be held in Queensland for the first time, thanks to the support of the City of Gold Coast.
The in-person gathering will lead the Australian Tourism Exchange, allowing attendees to expand their networks and build new customers at both events.
The conference will have inspirational keynotes and hands-on workshops where participants can learn practical strategies for attracting more clients with accessibility needs.
The goal of this meeting, however, is broader than learning new things. Indeed, the core of this yearly event is the networking between participants from various organisations in the area working towards the shared aim of making travel more accessible for everyone.
The event will be held in the SeaWorld Resort Conference Centre and on a dedicated online platform, both of which have been selected for their accessibility.
