Glamping under the stars gets new twist in Qatar
Spending more time outdoors is among the top things Brits are looking forward to and camping and glamping adventures are taking off. To help holidaymakers create incredible memories in the great outdoors, Qatar National Tourism Council (QNTC) has rounded up the country’s top glamping experiences for memorable nights under the starry desert skies.
With excellent visibility, rolling dunes and roaming camels, the Qatari desert offers five-star luxury, authentic Bedouin experiences or inexpensive and comfortable nights in a cosy cabin.
Take a look at the ways to sleep under the desert moonlight, and wake up overlooking the turquoise beauty of the Arabian Gulf:
1. Regency Sealine Camp, Ash Shaqrāʼ
Set in a beautiful location where the desert meets the sea, Regency Sealine Camp offers modern luxury in a traditional Arabian setting. The five-star camp features air-conditioned rooms with all the perks of a hotel including bathrobes, slippers, room service and Wii-Fi. The resort is designed perfectly for travellers to unwind after experiencing a wide range of exhilarating desert activities including dune bashing, quad biking or a charming camel ride. Finish the day with a barbecue under the stars.
2. Private Campest, Dukhan Beach
Caravanning in Qatar may not seem like an obvious choice, but it is a popular leisure pursuit among Qatari locals. With local provider, Private Campest, travellers looking for outdoor luxury can book a stay in a fully furnished caravan at Dukhan Beach with a decorated outdoor area complete with cinema, barbecue and free Wi-Fi.
3. Outdoor 369, near Al Khor
Outdoor 369 offers families a dreamy glamping getaway. Located near Al Khor, the site comes equipped with unique features and homely touches to provide a beautifully comforting experience in the desert. Guests can spend the evening roasting marshmallows by the fire, sipping on a hot cup of karak or relaxing with a movie night – displayed on a projector for the ultimate outdoor theatre experience. Cosy cabins take the place of tents, and are available for rent to ladies and families only.
4. Sarab Camp, Mesaieed
Escape from the hustle of the city at Sarab Camp; a haven of relaxation in the middle of the vast sand dunes. Entertainment and local cuisine are provided, or guests can opt to bring their own ingredients for a barbecue. The camp has 16 clusters each consisting of six tents and a majlis – = Arabian style social spaces for guests to come together and enjoy entertainment. The spacious and air-conditioned majlis are equipped with a TV and the wider camp is ideal for families with a host of entertainment for all ages; an outdoor play area, table tennis and foosball, plus an option to hire quad bikes for thrill-seeking adventurers.
5. Overnight camping, Sealine Beach
Experience an Arabian night like no other with 365 Adventures. Located at Sealine Beach, the stay promises to be adventure-filled, with falcon handling and dune bashing on offer. Guests can indulge in a Middle Eastern barbecue feast before spending the night in traditional Bedouin tents.
