Fourth Carnival’s Ship To Be Based In Galveston Texas

The Carnival Miracle cruise ship, now based in Long Beach, California, will have a new home by the end of next year. Carnival Cruises has announced that it would add a fourth ship to its fleet based in Galveston, Texas, to expand its operations further away from the popular port.

The Carnival cruise ship will relocate from San Francisco to Galveston, with cruises beginning in the autumn of 2024 and ending in the spring of 2025. Carnival Miracle will offer 10-, 11-, and 12-day itineraries, now available for booking.

“We have always offered a great variety of cruises from Galveston, but by adding a fourth Carnival ship to homeport in Galveston and sailing these longer itineraries, we are giving our guests great new choices, especially for those who want to experience a wider variety of beautiful ports of call and more time to enjoy their time at sea,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line.

Carnival Miracle will join three other ships in the fleet sailing from Galveston. Carnival Breeze is now sailing four- and five-day Caribbean cruises, while Carnival Dream is sailing six- and eight-day journeys. The new Carnival Jubilee will also sail from the port when she enters service as the third Ecel class LNG-powered ship in December 2023 on week-long Caribbean itineraries.

“Galveston is one of our top homeports, and with the arrival of Carnival Jubilee and the new Carnival Miracle itineraries, it will only grow in popularity with our guests,” Duffy added.

After a one-time Carnival Journeys repositioning voyage that begins on 1 October 2024 and includes calls to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico; Puntarenas, Costa Rica; Cartagena, Colombia; and a Panama Canal transit, Carnival Miracle will be the final Spirit-class ship to offer cruises departing Galveston.

The ship will begin a series of 19 voyages, covering the Caribbean and the Panama Canal, on 16 October 2024. The maiden cruise from Galveston will be a nine-day Western Caribbean itinerary that includes stops in Montego Bay, Jamaica, Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands, Mahogany Bay, Isla Roatan, Belize, and Cozumel, Mexico.

There will also be a 10-day Panama Canal voyage beginning 15 November with stops in Cozumel, Mexico; Limon, Costa Rica; Colon, Panama (with tours of the Panama Canal); and Mahogany Bay, Isla Roatan. Additional highlights include an 11-day Caribbean cruise with stops in Montego Bay, Jamaica, Amber Cove, Grand Turk, Princess Cays, and Nassau, Bahamas.

A 12-day Carnival Journeys sailing departs on 26 January 2025, with stops in Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands; Aruba; Bonaire; Curacao; and Cozumel, Mexico.

As guests board the 2,200-passenger Carnival Miracle, they’ll be relieved to learn that she recently completed a dry dock in November 2022. During the refurbishment, she gained a new red, white, and blue hull livery and a contemporary interior design. In order to make more room in the casino, the cruise company also removed the Casino bar.

The ship is now sailing out of Long Beach but will relocate to San Francisco for the summer season in May.
