As the Association of Women Travel Executives (AWTE) breaks into global membership, Travel Daily Media is delighted to highlight Debbee Dale the outgoing chair as she explains the benefits of the AWTE in our first feature of AWTE members.
The association is over 60 years old and its purpose is to support women though their career in Travel, Tourism and Hospitality.
We feel that we have changed considerably in the last few years and really helped increase our network as well as build on our 3 pillars of success to develop, network and build business to business within our membership – so why not share with the world!
We have individual members from some countries, however if there is a group of over 35 women together then we will consider opening an AWTE Chapter in your country.
In the last few months we have opened AWTE Ireland, are considering Middle East by the end of this year and I hope Asia by the beginning of next year. There is so much scope and you can join us now.
The importance of such an association is something we are often asked about and I can say as a member for the past 15 years, I have benefited greatly from introductions, the ability to network with purpose, mentor and actually talk business with like minded people who genuinely want to support each other.
I have worked with over 20 countries across the world and encourage all women to get their voice heard. Our industry has a majority of women workers and yet a tiny portion of them are senior executives.
We need more equality at the very senior level and sometimes it’s just talking though with someone you have got to know and trust who may face some of the same issues as you.
AWTE develops, supports and is an ideal conduit for women travel professionals around the world.
We are delighted to have Travel Daily Media as our Global Media partner and look forward to seeing the spotlight on some of our members this year. Highlighting some amazing achievements that I really hope women will take encouragement from and really propel themselves forward to an even stage with the fantastic men in our industry!
Keep a look out for our members, go and look at the website and join now for a very small nominal annual fee you can benefit from direct access to our network of members.
