MEYER Floating Solutions, a pioneering company within the worldwide recognised MEYER Group, has unveiled the world’s first floating cruise terminals, a game-changing breakthrough in the cruise industry.
These revolutionary terminals offer cruise ports an environmentally conscious, resource-efficient choice worldwide. MEYER Floating Solutions establishes a new port infrastructure standard with a portfolio that includes many designs and customisable modules.
MEYER Floating Solutions has redefined port development with an emphasis on flexibility and sustainability as a critical component of the MEYER Group, which includes three renowned cruise shipyards. This new concept meets the demands of ports with minimal infrastructure while allowing the flexibility to expand or relocate terminals as needed. The benefits are underscored by Kaj Casén, CEO of MEYER Floating Solutions: “Our floating cruise terminals offer a dynamic solution for ports seeking seamless expansion options, ensuring the safety and confidence of both public and private investors.”
MEYER’s floating solution eliminates reinventing the wheel by combining best practices and techniques from multiple sectors while using established technology. Floating assets up to full terminal size can be manufactured in a factory-like environment (e.g., a shipyard). This reduces local site operations like land reclamation while ensuring critical safety and operability via permanent mooring solutions like mooring dolphins.
MEYER Floating Solutions offers a wide range of terminal designs that may be easily combined with complementing modules such as hotels, parking facilities, energy supply centres, and shopping malls, all manufactured under the MEYER brand.
The possibilities are extensive, ranging from streamlined pier systems that minimise disruption to both land infrastructure and the natural environment to complex terminals with up to three piers that can simultaneously accommodate several ships. The pier options, which range in length from 205 to 320 metres, were precisely constructed to maximise utility within a footprint of 410 metres in length and 265 metres in width. “Our terminals are deliberately engineered to be modular, empowering operators to adeptly meet escalating demand and enhance their facilities with minimal on-site complexity,” Casén adds.
Each module is meticulously built at the MEYER Group’s cutting-edge shipyards in an environmentally friendly, controlled environment that preserves precious resources. This ground-breaking invention represents a significant step forward in the evolution of cruise ports. The dedication of MEYER Floating Solutions to sustainable, adaptive, and resource-efficient infrastructure ushers in a new era for the cruise industry, one in which port expansion integrates seamlessly with environmental care.
