Fiji Airways will be able to attract more Asian travellers in future, following the signing of a codeshare agreement with Hong Kong Airlines.
The arrangement will see the Fijian national carrier place its “FJ” code on Hong Kong Airlines’ services between Hong Kong and Bangkok, Tokyo and Osaka. This will enable travellers from these cities to travel to Fiji on a single ticket, transiting at HKIA.
In return, Hong Kong Airlines will place its “HX” code on Fiji Airways’ direct Nadi-Hong Kong and Nadi-Auckland flights.
“We’re delighted to have an excellent partner, Hong Kong Airlines, to help expand our footprint in Northeast Asia,” said Andre Viljoen, Fiji Airways’ managing director & CEO. “This is a key part of our growth and presence in the region, and the three destinations are welcome additions to our network.
“The arrangement will allow through check-in of customers and their luggage all the way to their final destinations, offering convenient transit options in Hong Kong and Nadi. We look forward to welcoming more Asian travellers to our home, Fiji, one of the world’s most sought after tourist destinations,” he added.
Fiji Airways already offers several in-flight services to Asian travellers, including Asian meals and the availability of Mandarin and Cantonese interpreters on every flight between Hong Kong and Nadi.
