The Family Holiday Association (FHA) were announced as the Fundraising Team of the Year at the Charity Times Awards 2017.
The awards entry focussed on the charity’s successful 40th Anniversary activities during 2015/16 which resulted in more contacts, more income and more families being helped.
Having set a target of raising the funds to help 4,000 families last year, FHA’s reach hit 5,184 families who were able to access a break away from home.
Commenting on the success, Angie Watson, fundraising and communications manager for the charity said: “We are thrilled to receive this award, which recognises the tireless work of our talented team. However we couldn’t have done it without the amazing support of the travel and tourism industry.
The enthusiasm and generosity of so many people and organisations in pledging to our 500 for 500 campaign, running marathons, riding bikes, sailing boats, and getting involved in so many different and diverse fundraising activities has been an inspiration to us all.”
The Charity Times Awards is the largest event of its kind to honour UK charities and their supporters. Hosted by comedian Shappi Khorsandi at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge, the 18th annual awards brought together charities and organisations from across the sector to celebrate the success and impact of individual and collaborative work.
Pictured with the trophy are Shappi Khorsandi (host), Izzy Watson, Michael Smout, Angie Watson (all from the charity team) and Stephen Pidgeon (Plymouth University) who presented the award.
