Extraordinary Travel Festival names the world’s most travelled people
The majority hailed from North America and Europe
The Extraordinary Travel Festival (ETF)’s organisers have released a report showing just who the world’s most travelled people are and where they are from.
The report is based on a survey conducted during the festival which was held in November 2024 in Bangkok, Thailand.
Based on findings, the majority of the world’s most travelled people are from North America and Europe.
Breaking down the numbers
North America came in first place with 39 percent of the world’s most travelled people, while Europe came in second with 35 percent.
Asia is in third place with 16 percent followed by Oceania, South America, and Africa.
In terms of individual living situations, 38 percent said they had homes in North America; 30 percent in Europe, and 14 percent in Asia.
11 percent of respondents claimed to be nomadic and did not have permanent homes.
Likewise, the world’s most travelled people are always on the move, spending around 140 days of the year travelling, taking an average of 44 flights each.
In terms of age, the average was 49 years; the youngest traveller at the event was 22 and the oldest 80.
Middle-aged travellers made up the majority, clocking in at 27 percent.
With regard to gender, males made up 62 percent of all participants, while females made up the remaining 38 percent.
