Job Description

Sr. Data Scientist
Shep’s parent company, Flight Centre Travel Group is based in Brisbane, Australia, and is one of the world’s largest travel agency groups with company-owned operations in 23 countries and a corporate travel management network that spans more than 90 countries.
Shep was founded with the vision that transparent data and ubiquitous communication could transform business travel for the good of the traveler and the travel manager. We use web browser extension technology to overlay messaging and user interaction elements on top of corporate and consumer travel sites while collecting behavioral data to better predict and support future travelers.
Shep is looking for a Data Scientist Rockstar that can come up with clever ways to break seemingly unstructured data into useable features. This person is familiar with the latest machine learning/deep learning trends and is able to construct and deploy a ML pipeline that can be used in a production environment with large amounts of data.
Responsibilities:
User Behavior Understanding:
Since our main client is a browser extension, we have the ability to capture the online journey of a corporate traveler all the way from Initial Consideration, through Active Evaluation, all the way until Moment of Purchase, even as they cross through different websites. It is our belief that understanding, and even predicting, our customers’ journey both at a micro- and at a macro-level, can give us insightful and actionable information to better serve our clients’ needs.
Parsing Web Page Data:
Part of our value proposition is to provide the right message at the right time by understanding what the user is trying to accomplish on a page and use that to construct a context. As such, several data points are needed to be collected from user interactions. For example: Flights: departure/destination airports and dates, travelers, flight number, details for each leg, total price and taxes/fees, etc. Hotels: stay dates, hotel name/address, room type, total price and taxes/fees, etc.
Requirements:
Pandas
Python
Tensorflow/Fast.ai/Pytorch
JavaScript
MixPanel
Ability to dig into the data but don’t like to over-complicate things.
You love to be challenged, are a proactive problem solver, and thrive in a rapidly changing environment
You love to travel and bring that inspiration into the work that you do.

Benefits Include:
