Job title: Financial Controller – Corporate & Accounting Operations
Reporting into: CFO South Africa
Purpose: To provide commercial expertise, business support, financial control and strategic advice to the Corporate divisions FCTG (FCM, CT and Stage & Screen) to ensure all goals are met, opportunities realised and risks mitigated.
Working closely with the CFO, Corporate Traveller and FCM SWOT Leaders and team as follows –
Delivering timely and accurate management information to aid strategic and tactical decision making by and with the business
Responsible for leadership of approx. 30 finance team members with 5 direct reports
Responsible for the financial control of the Corporate brands, ensuring robust controls are in place and appropriate monitoring tools are used to ensure adherence to such controls
Responsible for providing both routine and ad hoc analysis to CT and FCM SWOT teams and Operational Leaders
Providing business acumen to the CT and FCM SWOT teams and developing this financial application in the rest of the operational SWOT teams
Ensuring risks are identified and mitigated through appropriate, robust controls around the creditors and debtors departments that make up the Accounting Operations team
Ownership of ongoing process improvement in the Accounting Operations team
Set, maintain and drive achievement of appropriate KPI targets for teams and individuals in order to achieve the best possible outcomes for the functions across the business
Care take the off-shore, outsourced teams providing specified roles and functions to the business. Setting of minimum expectations and ensuring these are met whilst maintaining a seamless integration with local teams and business participants
Take ownership of the mid-back office system (Protas), ensuring its key functionality, integration set ups and optimised performance is maintained and delivered to all stakeholders and users across the business
Grow, guide and develop the leadership teams of the Corporate and Accounting Operations finance teams
Develop and maintain relationships with key clients and suppliers in order to play a key part delivering on brand expectations to both aforementioned stakeholders
Identify and drive opportunities for procedural efficiencies, embracing technology integrations as part of the solutions
Qualification & Experience required:
BCom Hons essential, CA(SA) or CIMA preferable
5 years of relevant experience at a managerial level
6+ years in a financial role within Accounting and Operations
Accountabilities:
Commercial Acumen and Business Support
Assist Corporate SWOT Leaders with understanding the financial implications of a business decision through commercial awareness, production of ad hoc analysis and ongoing tracking of business performance
Outcome:
Meet growth expectations and ensure profit targets are met.
Financial Reporting and Business Review
Develop appropriate financial reporting to manage and pro-actively diagnose the division.
Continually review all aspects of the division to ensure profit opportunities are identified.
Conduct area reviews with the Corporate SWOTs to improve business performance
Outcome:
Budgeted profit expectations are met, year on year.
Budgeted profit targets are exceeded.
Accurate Financial Results to timetable
Leadership
· Create a culture within the Corporate & Accounting Operations Finance team that embraces change and one that provides insight and meaningful reporting to influence strategy and support business decisions
· A dynamic leader that leads by example and reinforces a company’s values and philosophies. One that can safeguard the business through successful succession planning and team development
Ensure that FCTG communication systems are in place i.e. one-on-ones, weekly business meetings etc.
Outcome:
Existing Finance staff can be promoted when an opportunities arises.
All Corporate and Accounting Operations Finance staff have career plans
All Corporate and Accounting Operations Finance staff have at least 2 days per year Learning and Development.
Senior roles have a succession plan in place
Financial Control
Ensure the financial integrity of the financial results of FCRSA by ensuring that your division is maintaining adequate financial controls and are reporting accurately and in a timely manner.
Ensure that all year-end audit issues relating to your division are managed in an effective manner
Outcome:
Budgeted profit targets are exceeded.
Year-end audit deadline is met with immaterial audit differences.
All compliance deadlines are met and appropriately reviewed.
Write offs are reduced to an absolute minimum.
Efficient and Accurate Processing of Supplier Transactions
Provide efficient, effective and seamless back office processes that support the rest of the Corporate businesses and allow them to focus on the key front end business. This department will become a true centre of excellence for process efficiency

Review of overall creditor age analysis
Monthly debtors reviews
Debtor Days
Write offs
Reduce processing times
External Relationships
Maintain and develop external relationships with key stakeholders within the Corporate space
